Just Be You by Carol Robson.

Standard

Just Be You

You’ve endured a life of!

Told it will be this way

told it will be that way

told, told, told told,

from the earliest time.

Roles decided.

Learn this, learn that

the right way

it has to be

their way.

Be different,

free thinking,

challenge them,

use constructive argument

be prepared

to be labelled,

different,

a rebel.

We are not

all the same

challenge them

your life,

your choice,

your human rights,

being broken

challenge them

your life,

your choice

stop them,

shaping you

just be you.

Told you cannot,

ask why not

challenge

be different

make mistakes

they’re your mistakes

learn from them

stand out

make a difference

your choice

your life

shape yourself

true to yourself

just be you

not what others,

want you to be.

You don’t need,

role models.

Me by Carol Robson.

ME

I’ve such self-belief that it – scares me
I refuse to let my past – define me
In the here and now – poet me
I’ve proved I can do it – performer me.

Some people cannot get past – history me
Clouds their vision to see – true me
Ignored and never accepted – dislike me
Or in truth, the realisation – discriminate me.

My true friends – love me
Loved my performances – support me
Female poet and performer – gladdens me
My authentic and fulfilling life – just me
Feeling alive – REAL ME.

An Untimely Death by Carol Robson.

Standard

An Untimely Death

Older people are easy targets
relying on their pension,
pension day to look forward to
then, start looking forward to the next.

They want you to work until you die
attacked, suffer cutbacks
again and again
those now living in fear
many with various disabilities
now fear their advancing years.

The extra money helps so many,
it isn’t about their luxuries
as they sit in their coats and hats,
scarves, gloves, wrapped in blankets
here in their homes.

Another cold winter shackles them,
confined by disability or age.
Fears for so many,
they will not see another year,
this will be an untimely death.

Apathetic Voter

Things will never change
If you don’t get your arse in gear
Apathy is your life’s trait
Thinking Yes! I’m alright mate.
Continuous fucking moaning
Belching from your mouth
This country’s going to the dogs
That is your usual spout.
Do something, get off your arse and vote.

Yet! you’re the public house transmission
Or living room politician
Always giving it large
To anyone who’ll listen
You’re in your face utter barrage
Fucking hell, don’t become a Farrage
Do something, get off your arse and vote

Don’t be the non-voter
Become the opinion poll floater
Public house transmission
Living room politician
Stop your fucking moaning
Just do your frigging voting

NHS and A&E rant and my poem Lest We Forget by Carol Robson.

Standard

We keep hearing on the news about NHS and A&E crisis, no beds available, older people taking beds up because they are perhaps more at risk to seasonable illness (chest infections etc) let’s blame an easy target again.
Older people the media say are tying up beds because care packages are slow in being organised for them at home, so again blame occupational therapists and social services. It doesn’t seem too long ago when the media talked about bed blocking and there were going to be fines for social services department who caused this, ‘bed blocking’. So lets stop demonising old people and people whose job it is to set up care packages….The people who need demonising, that have caused this situation within the NHS, local authority adult social care offices, austerity cutbacks etc, kill off of a few more older people, are this Fucking Government ‪#‎justsaying‬ ‪#‎mythoughts‬

Lest We Forget

This weary darkness of days,
as they trudge their weary limbs
from room to room, in decay.
Devoid of natural light,
loneliness and isolation
coldness of older peoples plight,
lest we forget, their degradation.

Truth by Carol Robson.

Standard

Truth

Openness is a fine virtue
that does leave you naked
to be raided by the bone pickers
scavenging for your faults
to bring substance to their sad lives
so they can troll their messages
of lies and innuendo’s.

Yet the trolls will never ascend
to the beauty of your soul
that shines from beneath
the layers of your humanity
that shows the very truth
of your beautiful pure nature.
